Driven by the loss of my mother Grete to metastatic breast cancer, I’m taking on a personal challenge during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
On Monday 27 October, I’ll be cycling 180km from the snowy mountains of Jindabyne all the way to Parliament House in Canberra. This journey is in memory of my mum, who died in 2011, and to help shine a light on the experiences and needs of people living with metastatic breast cancer.
The number ‘180’ isn’t just a distance - it's at the heart of the cause. MBC Action Australia is advocating for a 180-degree turnaround in the levels of supportive care delivered to an estimated 24,000 Australians currently living with metastatic breast cancer.
Fairer access to supportive care aligns with our advocacy for earlier diagnosis, faster access to medicines and fairer access to treatments regardless of your diagnosis, age, state of disease, location or income, across Australia and New Zealand.
